WELCOME

Cody Rotary Club was founded in 1949 by Codyites determined to serve their local and global communities and have fun. You can see our club's "excessive hilarity" at our annual Cody Rotary Show. The services we perform and the friends we make along the way, are hallmarks of the Rotary Club in Cody, Wyoming.

1)    Fun meetings , 2) special events, 3) speakers, 4) community outreach, 5) international service, 6) international relations, 7) Interact, 8) social events, 9) civic pride and 10) philanthropy ARE JUST . . .

10 REASONS TO JOIN

CODY ROTARY CLUB

JoAnn presents at a General Meeting

1 FUN MEETINGS

Thursdays, noon at Cody Auditorium, is the place to be!  For a club known to top each other at the Rotary show, our regular meetings are informative and always upbeat. Laughter truly is the best medicine, and even our "sick" jokes are healed with the good humor and camaraderie of our club members. Spontaneous singing has also been know to happen, sometimes by members with talent!

  2 SPECIAL EVENTS

Each spring, we produce a two hour comedy/variety extravaganza known as "The Cody Rotary Show” that spoofs the townsfolk and politics of Cody, Wyoming. Coupled with the Pre-Show Silent Auction, this is our largest fundraiser.

Rotarians annually help at the prestigious Buffalo Bill Art Show to support two great local entities: the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce and Buffalo Bill Historical Center

4 COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Annually we sponsor the Christmas tree mulching program, donate dictionaries to local third grade classes, sponsor the Relay for Life food table, help with Special Olympics, sponsor a road clean up for the Belfry Highway, contribute to Cody Cupboard, support needy families at Christmas, help with Habitat for Humanity houses and more. We encourage members to propose public service projects and often support those projects with manpower and money.

5 INTERNATIONAL SERVICE

Cody Rotarians serving people in Guatemala

2010/11 project:

To provide fresh drinking water to Arenal, Guatemala in South America, we partnered with Cody Presbyterian Church  and Presbyterian  Living Waters for the World, to co-ordinate, build and house a fresh-water pump system. Of equal importance is to protect and train the residents to maintain the system to keep it working.

2008/09: Our club raised money and delivered 260 wheelchairs to Guatemala residents who could not walk without assistance

The Cody Interact Club meets at Cody High School and completes at least two community service projects each year.

8 SOCIAL EVENTS

We love a party! Each quarter our Social Committee designs unique get-togethers for socializing, from backyard barbeques, Trolley Christmas caroling, Valentine dinners or a trip to Theatre in the Round. Two club favorites: the Promotion/Demotion Party, which is held shortly following the end of the president’s term in June to celebrate the outgoing president, And, the Cody Rotary Show-Cast party that immediately follows our Saturday night performance.

9 CIVIC PRIDE

The Cody Rotary Club "Service Above Self Award" is presented each year to a deserving non-Rotarian to honor work that they do in our community that exemplifies Rotary's motto, Service Above Self.  This year, we honor Ret. Senator Alan Simpson and Love Murray for their Service Above Self to our community.  In addition, we also wish to honor Ret. Senator Simpson for his Service Above Self to our country.  Alan and Love have helped make Cody a great place to live!!

Alan Simpson and Love Murray

To honor our military soldiers and veterans, we perform a "Salute to the Armed Forces." at the close of our Rotary show. The entire club sings the battle hymn of each branch of the military, and during each hymn we ask those who have served and their families to stand up and be recognized. It is the highlight of the show for many of us.

Applause for Salute to the armed forces
